Previously known as the Crossfit Throw Down, 2014 see’s the fittest all round athletes in the UK compete in the Copper Box Arena at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, on the 18th and 19th January 2014! The event will see 150 male, 100 female, 30 male masters and 20 female masters compete on the Saturday and Sunday to vie for the £5000 prize money…but more importantly, the title ‘Battle of London 2014 champion’!
Key dates & Qualifying
To be sure that only the best are competing, each competitor will have to complete qualification. Competition categories include:
– Male individual
– Female individual
– Male Masters (+40 years of age)
– Female Masters (+40 years of age)
Qualifying commences on the 3rd November 2013 and runs through to the 23rd November. The official website battleoflondon.com is releasing workout 1 on Sunday 3rd November at 19:00 (GMT), so check it out and try it yourself! Athletes will then need to complete the workout, record their score and have it verified by their affiliate manager before qualification can be granted.
Workout 2 is due to be released on the 10th of November at 19:00, and Workout 3 will be released the following Sunday 17th of November at 19:00 again.
Each week of the qualifiers will see the leader board updated. Naturally, the higher the placing each week the better, and respective points will be awarded and the athletes will receive an overall ranking. Only the top 150 males, 100 females, top 30 male masters and top 20 female masters will be granted access to compete at the 2014 Battle of London finals!
The event finals take place on the 18th and 19th of January 2014 at the Copper Box Arena in Stratford, London. All athletes will compete on both days with the aim of making the cut which will be announced on the Sunday. From here on the best will clean and jerk, rope climb and handstand (among other exercises) in a battle to be crowned the king and queen of British Crossfit!
