Fruit Extract and Syrup Sweeteners

Some sweeteners rely on using nature’s natural sweetness, so what better than to use extracts and syrups derived from various fruits…

These sweet liquids often solely contain high-quality extracts without any preservatives, chemical processing, dairy, nuts or gluten (please see individual items for specifics) and focus purely on extracts alone.

Although these aren’t calorie free, they do make an excellent alternative to sugar and because of their sweetness, you really don’t need much either to get the desired effect. Whether you’re adding some to your porridge, using for baking, in stir-frys or as a glaze for BBQs they are a versatile addition to sweetening up food and drink in your nutritional plan.

Agave Nectar

Agave Nectar is a smooth, syrup like liquid which has a texture similar to that of Maple Syrup. Great in drinks (it readily dissolves), on toast, on pancakes and porridge it’s a sweet treat fit for many occasions.

Sweeter than honey (but less viscous), Agave Nectar is derived from various species of the Agave plant. The juice is extracted from the core before it is put through a careful process to produce this sweet and delicious, nectar.

At around 1.5 times sweeter than sugar, you don’t need much sweeten up your food or drink whatsoever and for those who don’t eat honey (people on a plant based diet for example) may find this is a suitable alternative to honey too.

Honey

Honey from Bees has been used for generations to add sweetness to various dishes and drinks, in addition to its other potential health benefits e.g. being used for its antibacterial properties.

Honey comes in a variety of different types and can contain antioxidants from plant phenols. Make sure to look out for Manuka Honey, produced in Australia and New Zealand from the nectar of the Manuka tree this honey can have multiple times more nutrients when compared to some traditional honey.

Typical Uses For Sweeteners:
