Stability Cushion

The Fitness Mad Stability Cushion is a useful tool for improving core strength, while correcting posture and balance. Often used for yoga and pilates, this cushion can be incorporated into any exercise routine or simply sat on to improve core stability. The Fitness Mad Stability Cushion helps to ease back pain and strengthen back muscles to reduce a reoccurrence of back problems.

The Fitness Mad Stability cushion is an ideal tool for improving balance and posture; you can kneeel on the cushion whilst exercising to improve core strength or can sit on it to tone abdominal muscles whilst sitting at your desk. As the cushion is fundamentally unstable simply sitting on it keeps your back muscles working and your postural reflexes stimulated - effectively keeping you exercising whilst seated!

If you are using the Stability Cushion on a chair, we recommend that you use the cushion for around 30 minutes at a time, repeating at regular intervals during the day. Adjust the amount of air in the cushion to increase or decrease the level of instability to suit.

The stability cushion can also be used for a variety of exercises, such as push ups or sit ups, as the unstable surface simply makes the exercises harder by engaing the core muscles. However simply standing on the cushion on one leg at a time for a few minutes a day will do wonders for your core strength - but remember to do this in clear, open space in case you lose your balance!

This cushion has one side fitted with nodules for foot massage and sensory work and to provide extra grip when used for posture work. The other side is smooth, which some may find more comfortable when used as a seat. The cushion has sloping edges, which reduces the surface are in contact with the user, increasing the degree of work required to maintain the correct posture thereby enhancing the benefit of using the Stability Cushion.

The stability cushion can be inflated with your mouth without the need for a pump, though if you prefer a Swiss Ball Pump (available separately) can be used. To deflate simply partially remove the stopper and let the air out until the cushion reaches the desired hardness.
