10 Weight Loss Tips To Help You Reach Your Goal

I think a common goal for most at the moment is to lose weight and with it being such a hot topic here are my top ten tips to help you effectively lose weight without crashing and giving up. Let's dive straight into it with the first tip, here goes.....

Yeah, it doesn't come as a surprise I am sure that in order to achieve your goal of losing weight you have to make sure you are eating the right foods. No one says you have to become super strict and rigid when eating healthy but you do have to be somewhat disciplined to reach your destined weight. This means ditching the fast foods, chocolates, biscuits, crisps etc and replacing these with healthier foods from a natural source like meat, vegetables and some form of carbohydrates. Oh no, did I just say the word carbohydrates in the same paragraph as losing weight? Yes I did and that is because you can still eat carbohydrates like porridge, bran flakes, sweet potatoes, rice etc and still LOSE weight. In a nutshell, eat well and have a balanced diet :)

Ditch The Scales

Standing on the scales morning and night can literally take over your life and this is not good for you. Do not use the scales as a way to track your progress because your body can fluctuate so much it can leave you disheartened if you step on and not see what you want to, or you think you deserve to see something better. Instead of using the scales why not go by how you actually look and how loose your clothes become? In my eyes this is a much better approach than a number on a set of scales which doesn't show how you actually look and feel.

Eating healthy and working out goes hand in hand so in order to maximise your chances of effective weight loss it is imperative you exercise. What kind of exercise should you do? A mix of both weight (resistance) and cardiovascular training is what works best for most people and this combination will help tone your body also. The leaner and more muscle tissue you have as opposed to fat on your body will help increase your metabolism. So ladies, NO weight training will not give you massive muscles and turn you into the next bodybuilder. They will in fact help you tone your body and improve the speed at which fat is stripped from your body.

Balance Is Everything

I touched on it earlier in the nutrition heading of this article and it really is important to remember that you must have a balance with everything. Essentially you never want to eliminate everything out of your diet because at the end of the day we are all human and sometimes your body will crave something unhealthy. With that said, it is important you realise when to say no and when to allow yourself something which isn't nutritionally balanced. So keep a good balance and don't feel bad if you have something not so good for you. If you have been exercising and eating well, one or two bad meals a week will do no harm!

Eat Breakfast

I can't stress enough the importance of eating a breakfast for the main reason that it stops the fast from when you have been asleep. Eating something as soon as you wake or within 30 minutes is a great way to fire up your metabolism and encourage more fast loss. For some of you the thought of eating something upon rising will make you feel sick or you just don't feel like it but this feeling is only there because of how your lifestyle is now. Break the mould and fire up your metabolism so that it is ready and waiting to burn off those calories throughout the day.

Stay Motivated

In my professional experience weight loss is one of the biggest and toughest goals as it requires you to push beyond what you thought was possible. Losing weight is no easy task and you need to make sure you stay motivated and committed to the goal at hand. At the start of your journey it is easy to state how much weight you will lose and how you will go about doing it until you reach a sticky point. There will be times when you perhaps don't lose weight, don't feel great and literally want to give up. So hang in there and when/if you do feel like this, a good tip is to remember why you started and what it will mean to you when you reach your goal.

Be Patient

Following on from the last point it is great to be positive, motivated and encouraged by your progress, however do not forget that weight loss doesn't just happen over night or in a few days. You will need to be realistic with your goals so set small targets which you can achieve and will keep you going. Ultimately you need to be patient and stick with it as it isn't healthy to drop weight really quickly in a short period of time :)

Switch Coffee For Green Tea

A simple switch of hot drinks can lead to more effective weight loss because of the superb effects it has on your body. Switching green tea for coffee will help increase your metabolism further and utilise fat as an energy source (basically help prevent it from storing.) There are other benefits too as green tea is a powerful antioxidant which rids bad toxins within the body and it can help maintain a healthy system. The healthier you are overall the better your body will be at burning fat, it's a win win!!

Being a supplement company you knew it was coming in somewhere and let's face it, some of these products will actually help. Weight loss isn't all about the obvious and using a fat burner, so be sure to do some research before investing your money into a supplement. I recommend supplementing with a good whey protein which will help keep you full and reduce cravings for sweet foods that will ultimately prevent you from losing weight. Protein also helps work with your muscles so if you are new to exercise you might find yourself aching a bit, protein will help reduce this.  Whey protein doesn't give you bulging muscles and it will certainly help promote lean muscle tissue.

Plan and Rest

Now at first your initial reaction is to go full steam ahead, exercise regularly and eat really, really well. My tip is to set yourself a plan which you know you can achieve weekly. Set yourself small targets which will motivate you to carry on and won't leave you feeling unmotivated. Another important thing to note is make sure you get enough rest. Exercising constantly and following a strict plan could result in resenting what you are doing, so make sure you are having fun with it and give yourself time off when you need it.

I hope you achieve your weight loss goals and if there is any help you need along the way from myself then please get in touch :)
