The iconic show in Vegas is the highlight of the bodybuilding calendar. Held by the IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness), pro athletes from around the world who have amounted a high enough number of points over the competitive season are eligible to compete for the ultimate trophy.
The first Mr. Olympia was held on September 18, 1965, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York City, with several changes of venue before settling in Vegas in 1999, during Ronnie Coleman's reign of consecutive wins 1998-2005. The competition has gone from strength to strength over the decades!
Big names through time:

Now better known as a film star, Austrian-American Arnold's journey to the 1975 Olympia was well documented in the 1977 docudrama Pumping Iron, alongside notable bodybuilders such as Lou Ferrigno and Franco Columbu. Arnold won the competition 7 times and to this day is the youngest winner at 23.
Lee Haney (title holder 1984–1991)
An American 8 time winner of the title, Lee was the 1st 8 time Mr. Olympia, knocking then record holder Arnold off the top spot, and the youngest to retire at the age of 31.
Ronnie Coleman (title holder 1998–2005)
Another American competitor, Ronnie Coleman is considered one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time. For a time, he held the record for most wins as an IFBB professional (26) before being overtaken by Dexter Jackson. Now retired, Ronnie has left his mark in the Olympia world.
