What Are Your Androgen's Saying?

Androgen's refer to any natural or synthetic compound that stimulates or controls the male characteristics in vertebrates. The most well known androgen is testosterone, the main male hormone and one that is responsible for males favourable muscle mass over females (generally). Did you know…a good indicator of a low androgen level is:

  • A wide hip structure
  • Predisposition to storing fat, particularly around the hips, buttocks and thighs (also known as a gynoidal pattern)
  • Presence of cellulite
  • Fluid retention around the face
  • Difficulty developing muscle mass (within reason…remember everybody hits plateaus from time to time)
  • Erratic emotional responses
  • Susceptible to depression
  • Reduced fertility
  • Low sex drive

The above bullet points may be caused by other factors also, it doesn’t necessarily mean your androgen levels are low, however it is a possibility. If your androgen levels are indeed low though, consider ZMA and/or a fenugreek based supplement to give them a boost.
