Andy Murray was overheard by the on court microphones muttering expletives to himself, these were rather colourful and appear to be aimed at his loved ones in the supporters box. Murray was clearly not himself during the warm- up, with even Dimitrov, his opponent remarking on his strange approach to the warm- up. One of Murray’s rants was something like ‘5 minutes before the f****** match’…to what he was referring remains unclear.
He was then heard to say ‘Shut the f*** up’ toward his players box between points, something that isn’t conducive to winning Wimbledon. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no McEnroe, but it’s well accepted that if you lose your head in a tennis match…chances are you’ll lose the match too.
Who knows what was behind Murray’s outburst, let’s just hope he sorts it soon in time for the next major!
