The Novel Way To Keep Your Avocados Fresh, For Longer!

FACT OF THE DAY logo

Sometimes it’s the simple things that can make all of the difference. Wasting half an avocado because you used one half and left the other in the fridge or fruit bowl is a small, but equally irritating inconvenience. The health conscious people out there will appreciate that a whole avocado per serving does come with a fair amount of calories (322kcal on average), so it makes sense to only have half an avocado per serving, trouble is, how do you keep the other half fresh?

Onion! Yep, a great way to keep an avocado fresh is to keep the side of the avocado with the pit in and place it on top of chopped red onion. Place the lid on the Tupperware container and place it into the fridge. The sulphur gases emitted by the onion will stop the oxidation process that is responsible for turning the onion brown.
