The main reason being because of the high levels of osteocalcin consumed which is a protein and helps maintain bone strength. Another study from the University of Athens shows that a diet high in Olive Oil helps maintain a stronger bone structure in females especially as they are prone to suffer with osteoporosis. This disease is actually lower in the Mediterrean where the diet is rich in olive oil :)
