Some of you weight lifters or body builders probably took a large gulp upon reading this title; one might see this as a bit of a conflict of interests…if you’re hardcore though the only gulp you will have taken is that of your protein shake!
The Institute of Health Ageing at University College London concluded that a 40% reduction in food intake could extend your life by an estimated 20 years! Of course the easiest way to do this is not waste your energy (both literally and metaphorically) on ‘empty calories’ and aim to obtain all the protein, carbs, fat and micronutrients you need in as few total calories as possible. The problem is that many of us are striving to be bigger and better versions of ourselves, so I guess the question you’ve gotta ask yourself is this… Do I want to live a long life, or do I want to live a fulfilling one.
All I know is I’m gonna do my damndest to defy science and do both. Bring it on!
