The fact that it’s cold outside tells me something, it tells me that maybe it’s time we start thinking about ‘bulking out’. I’m not one of those people that adheres to the rule of eating what you want, when you want, and eating what I call ‘dirty calories’. There’s always scope to keep it clean, and clean bulking involves keeping it clean by minimising the amount of saturated fat, trans fat, sugar (including natural sugars) and salt. So if we can avoid an excess of these for chronic and acute health then why don’t we?
Some example ways to clean bulk include enriching and fortifying your foods by adding cheese, nuts and dried skimmed-milk powder to your mashed sweet potato, soups or stews. This serves to maximise the nutrition you get throughout the day. Weight gainer supplements are a great way to get extra calories in from small volumes, and good examples include Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass, Reflex Nutrition Instant Mass and Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer.
Maximise the nutrition you get, look after your body and CLEAN BULK.
