Is Crossfit Anything To Do With The Increased Funds Allocated To Weight Lifting?

Without doubt one of the biggest booms in the fitness industry right now is Crossfit, the ‘sport of fitness’ which amalgamates a variety of disciplines in order to identify the ‘fittest person on earth’. What’s the relevance of this, well UK Sport Funding allocators have injected an extra £894,000 into weightlifting bringing their total funding to £1.8m. Now this may be coincidental, but weightlifting is one of the main training principles comprising Crossfit, and seeing as Crossfit has grown exponentially in the last few years could this be one of the main reasons funding has increased again?   

Whatever the reason for this injection of funding, it must be music to the likes of Zoe Smith’s ears, the British female record holder for weightlifting.
