Former world heavy weight Champion David Haye was dealt the crushing blow of requiring shoulder surgery on his right subscapularis and bicep tendon attachments. To have to consider retirement, and at a time when he was planning his re- rise to the top in a fight against Tyson Fury on the 8th February, is harder to take than any upper cut he’s received.
The Hayemaker said…
“I genuinely believed the shoulder injury wasn't that bad.
"But the doctor sent me for a detailed MRI scan and, within 24 hours, I was told the full extent of the damage. Twenty-four hours after that, I was in the operating theatre”.
To make matters worse, Haye has been on the receiving end of some furious rants from planned opponent Tyson Fury, he says that he is angry at Haye for bailing but confesses he wasn’t surprised. Our sympathies go out to Haye, a great champion who may be having to bow out in inglorious fashion.
