What inspires you, what gets your heart beating, adrenaline pumping and stokes that burning fire inside you to make you GET UP AND DO IT!? Imagine not being able to walk, to have known it once before only to be incapable of doing it again…what would you do? I don’t know what I’d do if God forbid anything like that happened to me, but what I do know is this…I’d like to take a leaf out of James Simpsons’ book.
James Simpson recently completed the Spartan Race…WITH NO LEGS!!! We have a strong military following here at Discount-Supplements, there is a major military base in Colchester and the surrounding areas, and we know they are aware of the importance of optimal nutrition! What is so apparent to us is the grit and steely determination that embodies our troops, and James Simpson personifies that 100%! James was a Lance Bombardier who spent months training for the Spartan race, which can entail running any difference from 1 mile through to 26 miles! The series of races include the Spartan Sprint (3+ miles of obstacle racing), the Super Spartan (8+ miles), the Spartan Beast (12+ miles), and the Ultra Beast (26+ miles - one of two marathon obstacle courses along with Mudderthon).
With fully able bodied competitors failing to complete the Spartan Race, James Simpson has shown amazing strength of character to complete such a renowned challenge. With penalty burpees awaiting anyone that fails to complete an obstacle, the pressure to complete each and every section is high, not so much for the burpees, but rather the deep dent to your pride that comes with being set to one side and beasted for your failure. James completed the obstacles with no hesitation, he crawled over burning logs and climbed the roped obstacles, he demonstrated that it’s not the circumstances that defines a mans path, but the will to overcome adversity, a drive to say f*** it, I’m gonna do it any way… WATCH ME!
I feel the following quote from an American soldier about us ‘plucky Brits’ sums the achievements of our James Simpson up …
"Those Brits are a strange old race, they show affection by abusing each other, will think nothing of casually stopping in the middle of a fire fight for their "brew up" and eat food that I wouldn't give to a dying dog! but f**k me, I would rather have one British squaddie on side than a entire battalion of spetznaz!!! Why? Because the British are the only people in the world who, when the chips are down and there seems like no hope left, instead of getting sentimental or hysterical, will strap on their pack, charge their rifle, light up a smoke, then calmly and wryly grin "Well, are we going then you wanker??"
