DAILY ARTICLE logo

When you read up about the amount of exercise you should be doing each day and over the course of a week, does it put you off somewhat? Do you find it hard to get to a gym? Are the gyms too expensive or do you find you don't get enough time to go out because of family commitments? Sometimes the thought of going to a gym can make you do the complete opposite of wanting to exercise and this could be for a number reasons. The fact is, your exercise routine doesn't need to rely on you being in a gym to have an effective workout, there are other ways...

The Gym

Being a member of a gym can be a nerve racking place for you and the thought of exercising around people who look great might not be your thing. Working as a fitness professional I understand that it can make you feel self conscious and turn you away from the idea of wanting to get in shape. Let's face it too, most people associate getting in better shape with going to the gym and that's it, how could you possibly get a workout anywhere else? Well, I'm here to show you that you don't have to just belong to a gym to get a legit workout, fun workouts can happen wherever you are....

Keep It Fun

The most important thing when doing anything in life is to keep it fun because if it's not fun you are less likely to stick with it and see it through. Take any experience you have had where something hasn't been fun and the chances are it hasn't been a pleasant experience and isn't something you'd likely want to put yourself through again. It's the same with exercise, ultimately you want to make sure you are doing something which makes you happy otherwise you will get bored and lose enthusiasm quickly...

Exercise

A workout isn't just called a workout because you did it in the gym, you can exercise anywhere and be doing anything. Taking the dog for a walk, playing with your children, help setup an event, walk to work, cycle to work etc etc. These all sound like day to day activities to you? Well, it just shows that most days you're working out and doing something active for your body. These can be fun things, I know for me I am at my most thoughtful when walking the dog or being out somewhere. Nobody said you only have to be in the gym to exercise, use whatever you have at home or around you to get the most out of your workouts.
