If you’re looking to shed a few pounds or wanting to tone up and define by stripping off that excess layer of body fat around your mid-section, thighs or triceps, quite often all you need is a little boost.
Fat metabolisers aka fat burners, are designed to help you do just that, burn extra fat…not lean muscle mass, not carbs, but fat…via a process known as lipolysis (the breakdown of fat stores for energy). Fat burners contain a variety of ingredients, designed to deliver the optimal ratios of key fat burning ingredients, examples include PhD Lean Degree, Maximuscle Thermobol, Optimum Nutrition Thermo Cuts or Grenade Thermo Detonator (to name a few).
If you take a look on the ingredients list of most of these fat burners you will see ingredients such as CLA, Green tea extract, L- Carnitine, Caffeine and Guarana (Guarana contains more than double the caffeine found in coffee) the mechanism by which these work is to increase metabolism and thus lipolysis (fat for energy). You might also see Citrus Aurantium (bitter orange) which is effective at suppressing appetite whilst also exerting a slight stimulatory effect, therefore exercise caution when combining Citrus Aurantium with Caffeine. The abovementioned Guarana also exerts an appetite suppressing effect, so too does inulin fibre (which swells in your stomach increasing satiety) and Chromium Picolinate through its ability to moderate insulin levels. Also look out for Chitosan whose mechanism for fat loss is unique to the above nutritional components in that it attaches itself to fat molecules inhibiting its absorption into the body.
