Getting The Body You Want

Getting the body you want can be a challenge to say the least. Where do you start? When? What do you need to do? Arghhhh! It can be a real minefield!

After listening to so many experts from around the world and going for it myself, I’ve found that there is a certain ‘success formula’ that works when it comes to getting the body we want (or to become good at most things).

It’s not meant to provide the specifics, however it is meant to get you GOING with real motivational force…as I’m sure you’ve realised, there is always more to know and learn, so waiting until you 'know everything' is not something I’d recommend, in fact it’s a sure fire way of slowing you down.

If any of you are familiar with Tony Robbins, this may sound familiar…this is in fact tweaked from something I read in one of his books some time ago.

Anyway…

The Formula

  1. Know What You Want
  2. Connect With Your WHY
  3. When Will You Do It?
  4. Take MASSIVE Action

Now I’ll go into a bit more detail for each…

Know What You Want

When it comes to your physique goals, knowing what you want is very important.

Not only because it gives you clarity, but it will help you decide other variables too, if you want to get a really high level looking physique then the amount of effort and dedication is going to be fairly high too. If you’re wanting to lose a few pounds and get in decent shape (whatever that means to you) then that will require a different level of commitment again.

It’s important to know exactly what you want as it makes everything else a LOT easier.

Oh, by the way - these goals can always change down the line, but for now just get started and you can adjust later should you wish.

Connect With Your WHY

Why you do something is where the real power comes from. If you have a strong, powerful and meaningful why…it will pull you through the challenging times - and being PULLed is a lot easier than having to continually PUSH.

Your goal will become so much more appealing compared to doing something ‘just because’ or because you think it will please somebody else. Make sure that what you are doing is for YOU and not others, sure other people may appreciate it and that’s great…but don’t do it for them, do it for you.

Reasons why may include:

  • Health reasons
  • Having improved functionality
  • Creating a more presentable appearance
  • More energy
  • A productive hobby that you can continuously work on
  • Role model for your children/people around you

There are many positive reasons relatable to improving your body and many ways to do it. You may prefer the gym or a more performance based activity such as running or cycling for example…have a good think and see what you come up with to suit you.

When Will You Do It?

So, when are you going to start with pursuing this goal, or when are you really going to KICK things into gear (this is for those of you who’ve been working out a while but know that there’s a lot more you can do).

Now it may be fair to say that you have a few things that need tying up first, or you may need to get through a busy period at work for example…in this case getting that out of the way first before starting can really help so you don’t get overwhelmed.

Although, make sure that you don’t use this as a reason (being busy) to never get started. People that succeed in this area of life make time for exercise, whether it’s better time management, getting up earlier or similar…if you want it you’ll find a way to make decent progress at least (doesn’t have to be perfect).

So decide on when you’ll begin your journey and start to mentally prepare for GOING for it :-)

Take MASSIVE Action

Here is what makes your goals come to life…once you’ve got your start date you need to take MASSIVE and decisive action towards your goal.

That means getting a plan and putting all of your effort into the specifics that you’ve decided to do, so if that’s a gym routine - putting everything into that and learning the pros and cons of your chosen routine, just like a nutritional plan.

In Closing…

To summarise…

  • Get clear on what you want
  • Figure out precisely WHY you want to do what it is you want to do
  • Decide when you will start
  • DO IT!
