How Many Grams Of BCAAs Should You Have Per Day?

How many of you are training for hypertrophy or strength? Do you supplement with branched chain amino acids or BCAA for short to assist in reaching your goals? Did you know that these amino acids are integral to support lean muscle growth, stamina and strength. They will also aid in recovery and sometimes you can use BCAA supplements which contain glutamine, an abundant amino acid in many peoples diets.

BCAAs are made up of leucine, isoleucine and valine. Usually the ratio will be in favour of leucine as this helps enhance muscle protein synthesis. Your body can use 10mg of branched chained amino acids per hour and a recommended daily amount is anywhere between 5-10grams. You should have your BCAAs around your workout, usually after or during. If you consume them before your body will store them until called upon for use. Make sure you have a good BCAA in your supplement stack for optimal gains :)
