You may not have heard of a one Richard Sorin, but had you shaken hands with him at some point… rest assured you would have known about it! Richard Sorin is a legend in the North Amercian Grip Strength Championships, he won everything there is to win when it comes to hand grip strength, which by default makes him the real ‘Man of Steel’ when it comes to grip strength.
Recently there was the 2013 North American Grip Sport Championship which pitched 25 men (and one woman) against each other to see who has the undisputed world’s strongest grip. Disciplines include bending horse shoes, rolling up frying pans, lowering sledge hammers down to your nose, and even pinching 253.92lbs (the winning weight) with just 2 fingers!!!
This year’s competition was won by 34 year old Andrew Durniat, who incidentally hosted the competition from his own gym. Although this competition is relatively unknown, there are now qualifying events and growing numbers of competitors as awareness grows.
They say you can judge a man by his handshake…how’s yours looking now guys!?
