It is a great idea to include a re feed day when dieting as they boost a hormone called leptin which is the mother of all fat burning hormones. When you diet, leptin levels fall in an attempt to store body fat but including a re feed can boost leptin levels which means you continue to burn fat at an optimum rate. If you are lean you might need to re feed more often than others and all you are doing in a re feed is increase daily intake of carbohydrates by 50-100% whilst keeping food choices healthy.
