Lionel Messi Injured...Are Finely Tuned Athletes At Greater Risk!?

Arguably the greatest player that ever lived, Lionel Messi, has been ruled out for up to two months because of a hamstring injury. This is one of the most refined, thoroughbred athletes football has to offer. His muscles are mature, dynamic and strong, they probably generate more force than all 11 players in an average Sunday league side! So why is it then that he gets an injury such as this, impact injuries such as sprains and breaks often result from an impact, but muscle pulls are the bane of many athletes lives, so is it something we just have to accept?

The world player of the year has been plagued by hamstring issues (quite often a problem in fast, powerful players) injuring his left one, shortly followed by his right!

"According to the club's medical services, the tests taken on Monday morning by Leo Messi have confirmed that the player has suffered a torn muscle in the femoral biceps of his left leg.

"The approximate time he will be out is between six and eight weeks".

"The first part of his recovery will take place in Barcelona and the second, in Buenos Aires."

Messi has some of the best medical practitioners in the world, he will no doubt recover, but how long will it be until it goes there a way out of this injury spiral!? For the sake of sport and fitness enthusiasts alike, let's hope someone comes up with a long term remedy soon!
