The Magical Marriage Of Chocolate & Peanut Butter!

FACT-OF-THE-DAY-logo

Why is it that these two ingredients just seem to fit? Peanut butter and chocolate are delicious on their own, but marry them together and you have a mouth-watering combo that is loved by millions worldwide! A nice little post in Men’s Health explains why the two seem to go together so well, and it seems to boil down to the aroma they exude. Evidently the flavour and composition of roasted nuts is very similar to that of roasted coffee beans, but more importantly, they are complimentary to one another. When the nut oils mix with the cocoa butter the two melt together as one resulting in a burst of flavour. Researcher Gregory Ziegler explains how pyrazines, an aromatic compound that triggers the limbic system in the brain that controls memories and emotions. This factor triggers indulgent memories that make you feel good, and chocolate and peanut butter does this beautifully.
