If Your Muscles Burn.... Then Your Muscles Will Grow


Going to the gym and breaking into a sweat alone is NOT enough to make a change in your physical appearance. How many of you go to the gym and can honestly say you could have pushed yourself harder in your workout? I think it is great you go to the gym and workout but you have to make it WORTH it. I want you to really focus on each set you perform and ask yourself during your workout ''can I get one more repetition?'' You can always push for one more repetition and you need to do this sometimes in order to break down your muscle fibres.

If it is burning while you perform the exercise it is likely you are working to your maximum and when they recover you will become leaner and stronger. Pay attention to how you feel and always ask yourself are you pushing yourself to your maximum in every workout you perform!

    Hi Scott,

    I'm new to bodybuilding and have been stuck benching only 40kg for 2 weeks now - how much should I be looking to add each week?

      Hey Gary,

      It is subjective, a key to increasing total weight is to change it up a little, try setting the weight to one that allows you to perform 5 reps to failure, then do 5 sets of that. Realistically though, expect to add maybe 1.25 to 2.5kg every 2-3 weeks. You will notice you start to slow in progress the heavier the weight gets. Clearly we can't progress forever, there is a physical ceiling.
