Mr Olympia Phil Heath Say’s… Don’t Just Train Them, Maintain Them!

FACT-OF-THE-DAY-logo

Phil Heath has won the Mr Olympia 4 times, this is just 3 less than the undisputed greatest Arnold Schwarzenegger at 7, and half way to defeating King Coleman and Lee Haney on 8. Despite Ronnie Coleman needing major hip surgery last year, generally all of the above guys maintained a good bill of health, you simply have to if you want to survive the amount of training needed to win multiple Olympia’s!

In a recent issue of Flex Magazine, Phil Heath explains how as you mature as a bodybuilder, you eventually realise the importance of a warm- up. Speaking specifically on shoulders (deltoids) he explains how as a 22 year old you can get away with doing one light set, and then jumping straight into a heavy set of 6- 8 reps with no complication. However he uses the phrase ‘don’t just train ‘em, maintain ‘em’ which underlines the importance of looking after your joints nutritionally and during exercise.

A balanced diet of protein, carbs and healthy fats are the base, but in the UK our general dietary consumption of oily fish and consequently polyunsaturated fatty acids are low, meaning it may pay to consume a regular omega oil such as Optimum Health Omega Oil Blend and Reflex Nutrition Omega 3.
