'Pimp my Shake' is getting COMPLEX with this complex carb, energy boosting, mind stimulating and fat burning MORNING protein shake! The 'Turbo Shakes' cocktail consists of whey protein, oatmeal, cinnamon, organic virgin coconut oil and espresso no less...you can even chuck in some ice for a warm summers morning!
Follow this step by step guide to 'Pimping' your Shake':
Add filtered or instant coffee to your shaker and use the heat of the water to melt 1-2 teaspoons (4-8g) of coconut oil. The Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT's) in coconut oil is very resilient to heat, so melting it improves the mixability and texture of your shake.
Add approx 2 scoops of your preferred protein powder (whey, casein, egg, soya, hemp, pea or brown rice proteins are fine) to the shaker...
Now for the secret ingredient, cinnamon...this has several reported benefits including enhanced taste, increased resting metabolic rate, and potentially improving your response to insulin, in turn helping to regulate blood sugar levels.
Add approx 30g porridge oats to your shaker/blender, this is your gradual energy source for over the course of your morning, as well as serving to satisfy hunger pangs and give your shake some real substance!
Add approx 200ml of water and blitz all of this goodness together to form a smooth, nourishing turbo shake! You can blend it so that it forms a smooth texture, or reduce the blend time to leave some of the oats in tact which may fill you up a bit more.
Empty the shake into a glass and enjoy, or leave it in your shaker and take your breakfast in a cup with you on your commute to work...JOB. DONE!
