One of the most fearsome and brutal boxing champions in the history of the sport once said:
"Everybody has a plan, until they're punched in the face"
Quite a profound phrase wouldn’t you agree? I’m not exactly sure whether he was alluding to the metaphorical message behind this comment, or just the literal shock a swift right hook can deliver! However, I think the underlying message is that we all start off well with a lifestyle change, the motivation is present, the direction is clear, and the outcome is feeling realistic and achievable… right up until you have a cheat food, binge on a naughty food or drink, or you stop seeing the improvements a few weeks down the line. Truth is that we all hit plateaus when striving for our goals, but the thing to remember is that IT IS NORMAL! No longer eating well because you’ve stopped seeing the results you were originally is like getting 90miles of the way to a 100mile away destination, only to turn around and drive 90miles back home again because the traffic was bad near the final destination.
It always gets harder the nearer you get to the end result, but all this requires is a little re-think, an amended strategy, and a little perspective. You’re doing great, the fact you’re hitting a plateau means you were seeing improvements in the first place, so don’t throw the towel in…never do that… just keep digging away and soon it’ll happen.
