Protein should be your first macro nutrient you consume in the morning and following a training session. This is because after sleeping your body has fasted and you need to give the muscles what they need. Starting your day with a source of protein such as whey protein is fast releasing and will quickly get to work in your body. Having protein immediately after your workout is also key, so that it delivers the right nutrients and building blocks to your muscles.
