Pumpkin Puree : Low In Calories, High In Nutrition

Just a quick note on pumpkin puree…for those of you who haven’t used it before, pumpkin puree is basically mashed and pureed pumpkin, it’s as simple as that. It can be used for a number of dishes including pies, soups or can even be consumed as a side dish in its own right. The beauty is that it is low in calories and yet high in nutrition delivering just 83kcal per average cup size, as well as 7g of fibre and 700% of your daily vitamin A requirements! Not only this, a cup full of pumpkin puree also contains approx 3mg iron.

So next time you fancy enriching your diet, try adding some unsweetened pumpkin puree to your mash potato for added iron, vitamin A and fibre. You could even add it to some protein powder and blitz it up to make a nutrient packed protein rich beverage.
