OK, I don’t always heed the advice of ministers, but occasionally they do speak some sense. Although the practicalities of this may seem a little farfetched, the government agree that a unified effort to reduce the consumption of red meat such as beef and lamb may be what’s needed to reduce emissions, prevent forests being cleared for farmland, and to reduce the rate of global warming (whether we like it or not, temperatures are rising).
It is claimed that a global calculator tool can allow the world to live more prosperously if we curb the demand for red meat. The 'Prosperous living for the world in 2050' report sates:
“Switching away from beef consumption, towards more poultry, pork, vegetables and grains can significantly reduce the amount of land required to produce food”
Deforestation is devastating the environment, and one of the main causes is to make room for livestock…crazy right!?
