Founded in 2016 by Scott James, in partnership with 7x 212 Mr. Olympia Flex Lewis, Sinister Labs has burst onto the scene offering something a little different to what we've seen before! Caffeinated spreads, protein bars and cookies are just some of their range. With an edgy skeleton logo and packaging that, well, just looks cool, we couldn't wait to sample the products!
These soft baked cookies are gluten free and pack 20g of protein each. They're certainly appetising enough and look just like the image on the packing. A heavy layer of chips/sprinkles and icing coats each thick cookie.
310 calories each is well justified in my opinion for the generous 78g serving and considering that you generally expect a protein cookie to be higher in carbs and fat than a protein bar. 35g of carbohydrates, 7g of which being sugar, is fair. The 12g fat might be a little high for some, depending on your goals, but for the flavour and texture that 12g fat adds, I'm not complaining.
My personal favorite was the Peanut Butter flavour, although all 3 are outstanding. I am a huge peanut butter lover, but tend to avoid peanut butter flavoured products as they often contain only weak artificial peanut flavourings. These are actually covered with peanut butter icing and chopped peanuts. Texture here is spot on for a packaged cookie. Soft and crumbly, they have a very authentic fresh baked feel to them.
Birthday cake is covered in vanilla icing and fruit flavoured bits. Texture is king on this one. A little crunch from the sprinkles adds another dimension and makes them feel very luxurious.
The 3rd and final flavour, chocolate chip, is 'Covered with Chocolate Icing and Chocolate Chips'. More like chocolate chunks! If you're a chocolate fiend, these are going to be the winner for you.
I don't have a bad thing to say about these. As mentioned, the macros aren't outstanding, but they're not marketed as a dieting food. For something that really feels like a treat while packing a good serving of protein, you won't find better than this.
