So over the weekend I had a KFC with some old friends, but not the regular chicken wings and thighs, but a pulled chicken burrito no less… and it was fantastic! A carb overload ensued but it was worth it, granted it’s not the healthiest as the meat is marinated in BBQ sauce, but it’s an all-round more nutritious offering than their usual. The reason I mentioned this is because it’s impossible to ignore the boom of Mexican chains popping up, and it seems this is only going to rise and rise. It seems the UK have well and truly been engulfed by the Mexican cuisine wave, seeing a 71% rise in burritos this last year alone! According to The Guardian, (2015), this is growth that outdoes the upmarket burger bar craze making the burrito a real challenger of McDonald’s and Burger King.

By no means am I recommending the KFC Burrito, it isn’t the route a healthful life or bank balance, however the traditional Burrito that see’s fresh meat in seasoning and rolled with rice, black refried beans, guacamole and salad is a decent option, certainly one that outdoes the likes of a Big Mac or Quarterpounder with cheese!
