We all need some fat in our diet but how much should we be eating? With it being December and Christmas just round the corner, how many of you will be eating more bad foods which contain larger amounts of saturated fat? Did you know that you should have no more than 30g of saturated fat if you are male and no more than 20g if you are female.
Why is it not a good idea to eat too much saturated fat? Well, a part from the obvious where you will put on weight it can also cause illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. Fat isn't bad though so don't let this put you off. Try choosing healthier sources of fat which doesn't contain saturated fats. Foods like nuts, seeds, avocados, oily fish and oils contain good fats which your body needs to help absorb other nutrients within the body. Cut down on the rubbish like, biscuits, chocolates, cream, cheeses etc!
