Scott Riches Part 5 : Scott's Abs Session In Prep For Competition

Hi everyone!
It's been a couple of weeks since my last post, hope the eating, training and resting has been paying off.

I am officially 30 or so days out from competing so I have been training very hard. Don't forget to say hello if you are going to this years Bodypower Expo in Birmingham.

So as I am starting to really shape and alter my physique, I figured it might be useful to talk about some of my abdominal exercises I perform.

Now, the abdominal area (abs) are very important to us guys, and to you ladies. That moment when you see some muscles popping out of your stomach is a real achievement.

Training your abs is a bit different to other muscle groups (in my opinion.) the ab area is surrounded by major organs that are oxygenated frequently. Therefore your abs recover quicker than other muscle groups. So you can hit them harder and more often.

I am training my abs approximately 5 times per week. Here are some of my exercises that I perform

Hanging leg raises
Cable twists
Oblique crunches
Rope upper ab pull down
Reverse leg raises
Medicine ball wood chops

I won't do set reps and sets for these exercises. I usually work it until I really start to feel it.
For every exercise I embrace my core muscles. I do this by breathing in slightly through my belly button.
