A lot of the time I am asked what is the secret to getting in really good shape? How do you have abs all year round? Do you eat special kinds of foods? And my favourite is, what type of supplements do you use? All appropriate questions to ask someone like myself who stays in reasonably good shape all year round, however there are some helpful tips I can give you which will mean you achieve the body you want.
The truth is there is no secret because how you reach your goal is down to what you actually do and not what secret supplement/diet you put yourself on. Results will appear when you start to take control of the different foods you are eating, the type of training you are putting yourself through and which supplements you are using to help give you that extra push. The only sure way you will see results is when you stop making excuses and get up from the couch to make it happen.
No Secret Supplement
Most will argue that there is a secret protein, fat burner, testosterone boosting supplement which will help you get your results quicker, sadly this just isn't true. Protein is just protein and a fat burner is just a fat burner which will help you reduce body fat slightly, there are no hidden secret supplements unless you venture into the dark underworld of banned substances, which I strongly disagree with using. I believe you should be using protein and BCAAs as staple supplements within your stack to help give you the best chance of changing your physique.
I recently posted a post about training properly when you are in the gym and this is really important, because if you don't train hard enough you won't see the right results. Seems simple right that you need to put in 100% in every session but not every session will consist of you putting in this desired amount of effort to see the right results. Maybe you have a bad day, perhaps you can't get your head into the workout, the gym is too busy or whatever it is that's holding you back, you don't give 100%. A one off session like this isn't go too hurt if you always put in monster sessions, however if you are someone who talks a lot during sets and doesn't push themselves hard enough, you will always find it hard to see change in yourself until you change your focus.
It shouldn't come as any surprise that when you train properly you also need to make sure you are eating the right foods too, they both go hand in hand. Keeping a well balanced and healthy diet is what will keep you making progress during the tough times ahead. Stick to healthy, well nutritionally balanced foods that will assist you in achieving the body you want to have. Avoid the sugary, refined foods which aren't balanced and have a negative impact on how you feel.
Finally, the best way you will see results is through consistent action and 100% effort in everything you do to achieve the physique you want. You can't have a good few days of doing it right and then going off track for a couple of days, you won't progress very far. Every day has to be the same and then only have a certain amount of time can you give yourself a day of flexibility, for the most part however you will be grinding it out daily.
