The British cycling performance director is to step down after overseeing our countries most successful period in cycling. His reasoning was so that he could afford more time to Team Sky and their impending Tour de France commitments. Team Sky, which includes athletes such as Wiggins and Froome are striving for what would be a hat-trick of Tour titles this summer!
Brailsford’s decade as Performance Director saw a decade of unprecedented success in British cycling. He oversaw eight gold medals during the 2012 London Olympic games, as well as coaching Wiggins to Britain’s first yellow jersey. The following year saw Froome retain the jersey for Team Sky and so the success story goes on! What makes it all the more exciting for the man is that he created Team Sky, so it is in effect, his baby…so who can blame the man.
Let’s bring home the bacon this summer as Team Sky hit the French tarmac! Allez Team Sky!
