Never Skip Leg Day is a familiar saying around the office and in the health and fitness industry. How many guys do you see that have great upper bodies and then have weedy little legs due to the lack of training them. Not only do you look silly but you also look out of proportion as your foundations should be solid and support your upper body, not the other way round! There is no question about it, leg training is very hard and is demanding of you body. Is this why this session is skipped often? Here is how you never skip leg day ever again
Plan Your Sessions
First thing is first, there must be a plan. You need to know when you are working out so that you think twice about skipping a session. This really works and the difference between saying it in your head and writing it down on a piece of paper is actually doing it. I want you to also highlight your leg sessions when they are written in your plan, these are ones you must not skip and therefore need more attention paid to them. So from now on, if you are going to miss any session, it has to be upper body and not lower body.
Yo Scott! Why The Emphasis On Leg Day??
My favourite sessions are leg sessions because of the huge impact it has on the rest of the body. Testosterone levels increase, metabolism increases, strength increases and so on. The importance of leg day is massive when compared to other muscles groups like the biceps and triceps. Ask yourself do you spend more time on an arm workout compared to leg workouts? Is your goal to increase size? Do you want to shed body fat? A leg workout will burn 2 or even 3 times more calories than an arm workout.
Number One Exercise Out There
No it isn't the bench press working those chest muscles, no it isn't a bicep curl working those guns. Ok, you guessed it because it fits with the title of this article, it is indeed squats!! The number one exercise out there which will work many muscles in your body and should be a staple exercise in your leg workouts is squatting. Squats promote strength within your legs and help improve overall strength within the body. If you legs begin to grow the body releases more hormones and signals for other muscles to grow within the body. It is worth investing the time and pain with a squat due to the amount of positive impacts it has on your body.
My Leg Workout
I feel happy talking about this topic because I train my legs religiously and never skip a leg day. I train legs at least once a week and always train them on a Sunday morning. Why? I do this so that i don't give myself the excuse of having a late night Saturday night because the last thing I want to do is miss a session. Check this workout out and yes it is Super Set everything ;) #
Squat and Wall Sit
Leg Press and Walking Lunge
Hack Squat and Stiff Leg Deadlift
Leg Extension and Leg Curl
Final Pointers
8 exercises compiled into 4 super set routines is going to be very demanding on your body if you haven't done it before so listen to your body and give yourself enough rest between sets. Ideally, 1-2 minutes rest is perfect when super setting at the end of each working set (not in the middle when switching during the set). Have fun with it and watch those thighs grow! Feeling sore the day after? Make sure you get enough protein and amino acids into your body to enhance recovery :)
