Many of you will have come across or even participated in aqua aerobics, the low impact way to perform physical activity without the associated strain that regular activity can place on the joints. Cycling or a ‘spin class’ is another way to reduce impact and strain on joints and connective tissue that may be associated with running and other forms exercise that involves bounding, jumping etc. However, few people will have heard of Aqua cycling and even fewer will have actually participated in it. The cycling motion even massages your legs due to the passive resistance of the water…win win! So keep your eyes peeled for this in your local gym, it’s rather commercial, but then again so is the gym in general…it’s what you do with it that counts!
