Start Training 'The Pack' Now Before It Is Too Late

With it still being cold and dark outside most of you haven't even really thought about the spring or summer. Did you know that most of us won't start exercising  for our summer bodies or thinking about it until we begin to get nicer weather, but is this then too late? Should we be starting sooner than when the weather brightens to avoid a last minute diet or planning which could leave you shy of reaching the end goal? In this post I want to write about some ways in which you can focus on your core muscles now so that you are READY for the Spring and Summer months....

The Focus

If I lined up 100 people I would guess that 90% of the people when asked what area they most wanted to focus on would be the stomach. This area is what I call the FOCUS area and I am sure you are reading this thinking, I agree! Do you suffer with this area? Do you want it flatter or more toned? Have you tried different methods but still can't seem to reach your end goal? My advice to you is don't leave it to the last minute and START today...

Have A Plan

Write a plan so that you can follow it and this will keep you on TRACK. Have a plan that is realistic and you know you can stick too. There is nothing worse than having a plan which is too demanding on your body and you burn out, resent it and become demotivated. A small tip is to make small separate goals along the way of the ultimate goal which you can tick off along the way as this will help keep you positive and mentally stimulated. Be sure to think carefully about how you are going to achieve it, what you will need to do and how it will make you feel once you do achieve it.

Exercise and Nutrition

These two components are so important for you to achieve your goal and I am sure you hear it a lot but take it from me, without exercise and a healthy, balanced diet you won't reach your end goal. So without going over board, exercise at least three times a week and introduce healthy foods into your diet. Another small tip I can give you is not cutting everything out of your diet which is bad and unhealthy as this will only cause you to crave it later on. How many of you have decided before to go on a 'health kick' and thought the best way in doing this was to literally eliminate every bad option out of your diet. No crisps, chocolate, pizza, fast food etc but then after a few weeks craved these foods? It is quite common but let's be real about this, eating healthy 85% of the time and eating a few bad meals a week isn't going to be harmful to you. Relax and enjoy these times when you do have these foods :)

Ab Training

Be sure to include general exercise into your routine, running, cycling, walking and some weight training which will help burn fat and tone your muscles. Did you know that endless crunches and sit ups morning and night won't get you a six pack or flat stomach? What will? Performing compound exercises which target your core muscles and help burn fat at the same time, this is a double whammy!! I still recommend training your abdominal muscles but apply more functional exercises to your workout program like swiss ball or cable based exercises! Stay tuned for my ab training article which I will release shortly as it outlines exactly what I do to keep my six pack all year round!

Use A Fat Burner?

You might think the obvious supplement to use in order to achieve fat loss quickly around the stomach is a fat burner but my FIRST piece of advice is to sort your diet and exercise regime out. A fat burner will help you lose weight especially one which has a good formula in it (something like maximuscle thermobol or grenade thermo detonator). What do these products actually do and are they worth it? Again, I remain impartial when it comes to these things, I am not a sales person and only want to give you sound advice. With that said I do believe these supplements work and they mostly work alongside a great diet and exercise routine. Think of it like a fire triangle and in order for a fire to occur you need oxygen, heat and fuel. If you take one away the fire no longer exists and this is the same as YOU. Exercise, Diet and Supplementation all work hand in hand, if one is not working properly then the others will not work efficiently and something like a fat burner is not warranted.

Final Advice

My final piece of advice to you is to keep everything steady and don't rush this process. This area is a common place to store fat so it will require hard work and it will mean staying dedicated to your goal and also remaining positive. Set your plan and check in with it daily or weekly so that you know you are staying on track. Make sure you start TODAY and give it everything you have got!
