Stay In Proportion.... Never Skip Leg Day

Come on, own up, who would rather hit a chest or arms session over squatting, lunging and leg pressing? The fact is so many of us love working our upper body as opposed to working our legs, why? Is the reason you first started going to the gym because you wanted to build a better physique? Do you see fitness models on the front cover of magazines and wished you had that kind of physique? Do you think the reason they look like this is down to the endless amounts of upper body work, or is there another way? If you want your best physique, here is how you do it...

Stay In Proportion

The most important factor to remember when training is that you want to stay in proportion with your whole body. Take a close look at how your body is looking and focus on areas which need more development than others. Do you constantly work your favourite body parts and neglect the ones you should be focusing on because this is easier for you? If you are doing this then it is time to stop and really focus on areas which need improving...

Working A Muscle Group Once A Week

To put it in perspective if you only train a weak muscle group once a week then you are only giving it 52 times in a year to improve which isn't many times at all. Once you have found what weaknesses you might have you will need to devote yourself to improving them so that they are no longer a weakness. Therefore, you might need to train your weaknesses twice a week so that they catch up and train stronger body parts just the once. Continue to train your stronger muscles so that they do not become weaknesses but keep the emphasis on muscles which need it.

Are Your Legs Lagging??

Are your leg muscles a big weakness for you? With the summer weather approaching it is important you are looking in good shape but it is more important you look in proportion. A great upper body and a non existing lower body is never a good look so make sure you aren't skipping leg day. Squats, lunges, leg presses all sound horrible exercises but these are the ones which will make the difference.

How To Maximise Gains...

There is no secret to maximising gains in a weak area, you just need to give it 100% and never give up. Although there aren't any secrets as such, there are ways which you can make sure you are doing everything possible to give yourself every chance of turning a weakness into a strength. For example, checking in with your daily diet and what food you are consuming is a big aspect of achieving results. The number one nutrient to include in your diet should be protein as this is the main building block for your muscles. Did you know using a whey protein shake will also help you reaching your goals in a quicker time because of how convenient and effective they are.

In Addition...

In addition to using a whey protein, using branched chain amino acids is another great supplement which can help with muscle building and recovery. BCAAs for short are found in lean meats and eggs but for concentrated doses you can use a supplement like XL BCAA's or Sci Mx BCAA Hardcore and they both deliver a good ratio of amino acids that are crucial for muscle development.

Summary

Don't forget to have a look at your body and assess which areas you need to work on so that you are looking your best this Summer. Pay attention to your weaknesses and transform them into strengths so that you feel and look amazing!
