Is This True Or Is It Just An Old Wives Tale???

FACT-OF-THE-DAY-logo

How many times have you chopped an onion only to be left crying with tears due to the strong particles it releases when the knife cuts into it? Most times when I cut an onion I am left opening windows and hurrying up the process just so I can relieve myself of having such watery eyes. Did you know that putting a piece of bread in your mouth and letting it hang out can stop you from having watery eyes? Is this an old wives tale or does it actually work? I haven't tried it but I can imagine the reason it works is because the bread collects the particles from the onion when it has been cut, reducing the amount affecting your eyes.

Why not give it a try and if you have any better suggestions, please feel free to leave a comment :) #HappyChopping
