A study conducted by researchers at the Arnold School of Public Health has found that using twitter is a valuable support system in helping individuals shed excess pounds. The most drastic weight loss occurred in participants who used twitter regularly and predominantly to provide information updates, send and receive support and tweet about their progress.
Many researchers have analysed social networking sites to establish current health trends and explore how the sites are used to discuss health-related topics. This is one of the first to examine the use of twitter as part of a weight loss intervention program. This could be the cost-effective alternative to attending popular weekly face-to-face meetings such as Weight Watchers in order to get great results...so get tweeting ;).
