Are You Type 1 or Type 2 Training?

Did you know there are two types of muscle fibers within your body. These are type 1 (slow twitch oxidative fibres) and type 2 (fast twitch fibres). Which muscles fibres are you working to build the body you want to achieve?

Type 1 - These are worked in low intensity exercises and aerobic activities where there isn't such a big demand on the muscles. There will be a low supply of creatine phosphate and depletion of glycogen from the muscle.

Type 2 - These are fast twitch oxidative muscle fibres and can be further broken down into type 2a and type 2b. Type 2b fibres are activated by low force/power/speed and high endurance, while type 2a fall in between 2b and type 1 fibres.

Which muscle fibers do you work most days? Do you mix it up? Whatever exercise you do it is a good idea to implement both muscle fibres into your training.
