USN Protein Dessert Product Review

Protein Dessert is a novel source of high quality, biologically available protein delivering a blend of rapidly absorbing whey protein, and slowly digesting casein protein. USN have exploited a gap in the market by formulating a high protein supplement which also acts as a dessert.

The historic tradition of consuming something sweet after a main meal has often spoilt a nutritionally balanced, calorie controlled main! Protein Dessert is comparable in consistency to Angel Delight but with just 1.5g of sugar, half a gram of fat and almost 10x the protein…with just 264kcal, the bulk of which is from the protein.

On top of this it also contains 18 of the amino acids, which includes all of the BCAAs. The amino’s are derived from dairy and egg protein, two of the most complete sources of protein out there.

The Casein content of Protein Dessert makes it ideal for late night consumption to stave off catabolism (muscle breakdown) when sleeping.

Flavour & Consistency

The product comes in 3 flavours, vanilla custard, chocolate brownie and banana toffee. This particular tub is banana toffee flavour. Add 2 scoops equating to approx 35g and add 150ml to an ordinary shaker, mix for approx 30-60 seconds and leave to stand for a minute. Alternatively place the product in the fridge and allow it to set for an hour or so to form a mousse or Angel Delight consistency.

Diet Protein mixes equally well with water or milk and the consistency is largely unchanged depending on what you use. The product can be drank or eaten with a spoon – which mimics the act of eating a dessert which is good for those who are habit driven.
