Vitamin D Deficiency Contributes To Muscle Weakness

Vitamin D deficiency is a recognised cause of myopathy. The word ‘myopathy’ refers to a muscular disease in which muscle fibres do not function as they should which results in muscle weakness and wasting.

For the majority, the festive period is a time to be ‘merry’ and enjoy relaxing with a few alcoholic beverages. However, excessive/ ‘binge’ drinking is associated with subnormal levels of vitamin D. Avoid muscle wastage, overall physiological damage and the embarrassment for years to come by drinking responsibly this Christmas.
