ZMA All The Way

Zinc Magnesium Aspartate (ZMA) is a combination vitamin and mineral containing zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6. Each of these micronutrients is essential for the human body, particularly if you want to maintain optimum energy levels and physical performance.

Zinc is involved in energy metabolism during intense physical exertion. It is also important to the production of testosterone.

Magnesium is necessary for glycogen breakdown, protein synthesis, lipolysis (fat breakdown) and Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) replenishment (ATP is the energy ‘currency’ of the body).

Vitamin B6 is important in protein metabolism and necessary for maximum muscle and liver glycogen storage.

A deficiency in any of these vitamins and minerals can impair performance and those who train more regularly increase their need for them and make themselves more vulnerable to deficiencies if they do not make the necessary adjustments to their diet. ZMA is associated with improving sleep quality, physical performance and libido (due to the increase in levels of free testosterone). It is also linked to immune support and gains in muscle mass (although research is conflicting for muscle gains).

Optimum Health Ultimate ZMA is only £6.95 for 90 caps.

Unless you take this supplement in excess of the recommended dosage, there are no clinically reported side effects.
