Optimum Nutrition High Protein Bar - 18g protein per bar
Each 55g Optimum Nutrition High Protein Bar delivers 18g of protein from a collagen hydrolysate, milk protein and whey blend at 221kcal, with 20g of carbohydrates, 10g of fat and just 1.9g of sugar. The soft-baked chocolate-coated format gives a different texture to the standard extruded protein bar. The 12-bar pack covers approximately two weeks at one bar a day.
The three-source protein blend - collagen hydrolysate, milk protein and whey - covers both structural (collagen, providing hydroxyproline and glycine) and muscle-building (whey leucine fractions and complete milk protein) amino acid contributions. Protein contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass, and the bar format makes that contribution practical when a shaker is not realistic. At 1.9g sugar the bar avoids the heavy sweetness that makes many protein bars feel more like confectionery than sports nutrition.
The 55g soft-baked format is lighter than the 65g bar variant - useful for anyone who finds larger bars heavy mid-day or who prefers a smaller snack between meals rather than a post-workout serve. At 18g protein it is still a meaningful top-up rather than a token amount. The 12-bar pack is a sensible stash size for a gym bag, desk drawer or car.
Built for lifters, busy professionals and commuters who use portable protein as a regular part of their daily routine rather than an occasional backup. Not a low-calorie snack at 221kcal and 10g fat. Contains milk, soy, egg, wheat and gluten. Suitable for people with nut concerns - check label for full allergen information.
Alternatives: Applied Critical Whey 2.2kg (24g protein/130kcal per scoop) for a shake format with higher protein density, or Efectiv Whey Concentrate (23g/114kcal) as a value-tier daily protein option.
Key Benefits
18g Protein Per Bar
18g of protein in a 55g bar provides a meaningful protein contribution to your daily intake in a convenient, no-prep format that works anywhere.
Compact & Portable
At 55g, this bar is lighter and more compact than many competitors, making it easier to carry in a jacket pocket, gym bag, or desk drawer without bulk.
Snack-Style Format
Caramel and chocolate textures make this a satisfying alternative to confectionery, helping athletes stick to high-protein diets without feeling restricted.
Box of 12 Value
12 bars per box reduces cost per bar and ensures you always have a protein source available - reducing the risk of falling short on protein during busy days.

I didn’t enjoy this, as
I didn’t enjoy this, as much as it does have added sugar it’s not like some of their other varieties that have no added sugar. It also tastes quite heavy. After eating this, I had cravings to eat more sugary things/chocolate so I wouldn’t call it a healthy snack. Maybe good as a treat every now and then
