Bounty Protein Bar - Product Review

Well, here we are with another product review and this time it’s for...the Bounty Protein Bar!

The last few years have seen the release of some awesome protein bars and now we have a bar with a bit of a paradise like twist. Chocolate, Coconut and protein...not a bad combination it turns out.

The result is a great addition to our protein bar collection here at Discount Supplements and if you’re looking for a decent tasting bar that is a bit of a treat at the same time this may be worth checking out.

Anyway, let’s get right into the review…

Taste & Texture

If you’ve had the Mars Protein Bar or the Snickers Protein Bar then you’ll know what to expect here we would’ve thought.

Bounty Protein Bars - Product ReviewBounty Protein Bars - Product Review

The Bounty Protein Bars bring that classic taste from the original Bounty but packs it with protein. Meaning that the protein version becomes a little firmer/chewier due to these high protein ingredients (specifically the dairy based proteins).

Taste wise, it’s similar to a Bounty bar and is certainly recognisable, but comparing it to a regular chocolate bar is a little unfair as you can imagine. As a protein bar however, this holds its own and the result is a pleasant Coconut and Chocolate based premium protein bar.

They’ve done a great job to bring this protein bar to the market whilst still preserving that Bounty ‘feel’.

Ingredients & Nutritional Breakdown

When it comes to the ingredients, the Bounty Protein Bars are made up of high quality dairy based protein sources which means there is 19g of protein per bar (each bar comes in at 57g).

The main protein sources are:

  • Milk Protein
  • Whey Protein Concentrate

Milk chocolate is also one of the ingredients you’ll be glad to hear. This encases the bar and contributes to that classic Bounty taste alongside...yep you guessed it, the Coconut!
When you bite into the bar, that classic Bounty taste really comes through with the Dessicated Coconut being apparent right away. It’s a little bit different we have to admit, it’s not like Coconut is a popular ingredient in protein bars. But we like it, plus with Coconut products generally really increasing in popularity over recent years (Coconut Oil and Coconut water for example) these bars have come at a good time.

Nutritional Breakdown (Per 57g Bar)

  • Total Calories - 192kcal
  • Protein - 19g
  • Total Carbohydrates - 17.3g
  • Sugars - 8.5g
  • Total Fat - 5.7g
  • Saturates - 4g
  • Salt - 0.14g

....which puts the bar right in the mix with other high end bars on the market.

The Bounty Protein Bar is just under 200 calories, has 19g of protein and tastes great - a solid bar indeed!
